I am Mr Crook and welcome to the Business Department. In the Sixth Form we use AQA exam board for A-Level.
You will find that Business is a subject with obvious applications that provides a fresh challenge and a vital connection to the real world that awaits all CHS students.
In the Lower Sixth, we study business, management and leadership and decision-making in various contexts (leadership, marketing, operations, finance and human resources). The focus is on looking at the details of how businesses are run.
In the Upper Sixth, we look mainly at the strategic side of business. We look at strategy via internal and external factors, strategic options, strategic direction, strategic methods and strategic change.
We proudly participate annually in the Young Enterprise competition. In 2020, our team was a regional winner and national runner-up.
In our Business Pathways group, we have also offered students the exciting opportunity to be part of the Business Tycoon competition. Once again, we have had backing and success.
No, but grade 6 in Maths would be useful.
Yes, but you will see a lot of the same teachers and will get the same topics taught from different perspectives at some points.
Economics is more conceptual and looks at the whole economy and whole markets and industries; Business is more practical, focused on real-world businesses and looks at individual businesses and why they succeed or fail.
